Six people have been arrested so far during a major police operation underway on Crete on Monday, led by the island’s Organized Crime Division, also known as the ‘Greek FBI’, according to a Hellenic Police announcement.
The members of the criminal organisation are allegedly involved in cases of extortion, arson, property damage and fraud at the expense of the European Union. Three suspected members of the group are among those placed under arrest, as well as three persons accused of stealing livestock.
Hellenic Police is expected to release further updates on the case, the number of people arrested and their activities.
