Step by step, race by race, Katerina Stefanidi is starting to find a competitive rhythm. At her “home”, at the meeting that was first introduced to us, the very high level this year, Filothei Women Gala, the 2016 Olympic champion passed 4.40, her best jump after the birth of her son and won once again “her” race. Stefanidi passed all the heights she tried – 4.20, 4.30, 4.40 – with the first and with characteristic comfort, while she tried unsuccessfully at 4.50. Her next race will be in Patras at Tofalia next Sunday.
Ariadne Adamopoulou also passed in 4.40 (she had a failed attempt in 4.30) and Myrto Kassotaki and Anastasia Bouboulidis in 4.20.
First appearance in the high jump in outdoor track for Tatiana Gushin after her injury in indoor track in a very high-level competition.
With her usual determination, she jumped 1.84, although the pain from her injury has not completely left her. Panagiota Dosi, who is also trying to find a rhythm after multiple injury problems, jumped over 1.80. For the first place, there was a big battle between Serbian Angelina Topic and Maria Vukovic, with the bar rising to two meters. The 34-year-old Montenegrin athlete, coached by Dimitris Vasilikos, surpassed herself by achieving a new national record with 1.98, leaving Topic in second place with 1.96.
Spyridoula Karydi achieved her best performance since 2022 in the triple jump. The 25-year-old athlete of Giorgos Pomaskis jumped 13.68 (1.1) on her fourth attempt and had two very good invalid first attempts, showing that the best jumps are close. The limit for the U20 World Championship was confirmed by Despina Passiou with a jump of 13.00 (1.3).
The winner of the race with a time of 14.71 (12.2), just two centimeters short of the race record, was the best outdoor athlete of the year, Davisladis Velasco from Cuba. A last-minute injury problem prevented Oksana Koreneva from taking part in the race.
The best Greek woman in the long jump was 18-year-old Evelyn Mitropoulou with 6.31 (0.5) and two other attempts at 6.29 and 6.30. A few days after her participation in Getsis, Anastasia Dragomirovova made her debut at the Filothei meeting and managed to jump 6.23. A little behind were Nikolia Poirazidis with 6.20 and Maria Stefanopoulou with 6.11.
The second attempts had to be counted to determine the winner, as Romanian Alina Rotarou-Cotman and Cypriot Filippa Fotopoulou (with her last jump) landed at 6.61. With a second best jump of 6.58, the Romanian champion took first place.
