Temperatures will continue to rise in the coming days, with the weather remaining generally clear and the heat gradually increasing. At the same time, strong northerly winds will continue to blow in the Aegean Sea, while instability phenomena will be limited mainly to the mountainous mainland.

The weather over the next few days will be characterized by sunshine in most areas of the country and a gradual increase in temperature, as warm air masses return and drive the mercury to higher levels.

The instability will remain weak and local, manifesting only temporary cloudiness and isolated showers mainly in mountainous areas of the mainland during the midday and afternoon hours.

At the same time, northerly winds will continue to prevail in the Aegean Sea with intensities reaching 6 to 7 Beaufort in places, keeping the meltemi wind high in the maritime areas.

The rise in temperature will become more noticeable from Sunday and will continue at the beginning of the new week, with the mercury locally approaching 36 and even 37 degrees Celsius in the western continental parts of the country.

Sunny in most areas on Saturday

On Saturday, June 20, the weather will be generally clear with sunshine prevailing in most areas of the country.

Only a few clouds will develop during the midday and afternoon hours mainly in the western and northern mainland, where in the mountainous areas a few local rains or showers will occur. There is a possibility of short local rains during the warm hours of the day and in the southern parts of the Dodecanese.

The temperature will rise slightly in most areas and will reach 33 to 34 degrees Celsius in the Ionian islands and their mainland, locally 35 degrees Celsius in the west, while in the eastern and southern islands it will reach 27 to 30 degrees Celsius and locally in the Dodecanese and Crete 31 to 32 degrees Celsius.

Further rise in mercury on Monday

On Monday, June 22, generally clear weather is expected with sunshine prevailing almost throughout the country.
