Annual inflation in Greece stood at 4.9% in May, according to final Eurostat data, remaining significantly higher than the eurozone average, where prices increased at an annual rate of 3.2%.
Inflation in Greece in May was slightly lower than initial estimates, as final Eurostat data recorded an annual price increase rate of 4.9%, compared to 5% announced in preliminary measurements.
During the same period, inflation in the eurozone reached 3.2%, up from 3% in April, while at the European Union level it stood at 3.3%, up from 3.2% a month earlier.
Among the member states, the lowest inflation rates were recorded in Sweden, Denmark and the Czech Republic, while the highest performances were recorded in Romania, Bulgaria and Lithuania.
According to the data, inflation fell in 11 EU countries compared to April, while it increased in 16 member states.
The key drivers of inflation in the eurozone were increases in services and energy, which were the main factors driving up prices. The contribution of alcoholic beverages, tobacco and non-energy industrial products was smaller.
