A near tragedy occurred on Friday afternoon, on a beach in Hersonissos, when two French swimmers, aged 30 and 37, were swept away by the waves and were unable to return to shore.
Bathers immediately notified the authorities and a coast guard boat rushed to the scene, managing to rescue them.
The two swimmers are in good health and did not need to be taken to hospital.
