Spain confirmed the predictions and qualified with characteristic ease to the “16” of the World Cup. With a 3-0 win over Austria in Los Angeles in front of 70,000 spectators, “Roja” got the ticket to the next phase, where it awaits Portugal or Croatia on Monday night (6/7) in Dallas.
De La Fuente’s team completely dominated the approximately 100 minutes of the match and was not threatened at all. They opened the scoring with Oyarzabal in the 38th minute after an assist from Cucurreja. In the second half (45+2) Baena hit the crossbar with a direct free kick, Yamal went first on the rebound but Al. Schlager beat him and kept the Austrians in the game.
This lasted until the 66th minute, when Alex Baena moved from the left, crossed into the “heart” of the defense and Pedro Porro, with a header on the move, scored his first goal with the Spanish national team. In the 84th minute, Alaba stopped Yamal’s shot on the line, depriving the Barcelona wonderkid of the opportunity to score just before he was substituted. And in the 89th minute, the leading Cucurreja provided a second assist to Oyarzabal, who scored for Slager, making the final 3-0.
