The “Haaland Law” sent Norway to the “16” of the World Cup. The Manchester City superstar scored in the 86th minute and shaped the final 2-1 over the Ivory Coast in Dallas. Thus, the “Vikings” made an appointment for Sunday night (5/7, 23:00) where they will face Brazil in New Jersey, aiming to qualify for the Quarterfinals for the first time in their history.
Norway opened the scoring with a stunning goal by Antonio Nusa, who in the 39th minute sent the ball with a right-footed shot into the “opposite” corner of Fofana. The Africans had more possession, but the Vikings missed their biggest chances to extend their lead with Haaland in the 39th minute (Sankaré counterattacked) and Hegem in the 69th minute (Diallo was sent off on the line).
Manchester United’s Amad Diallo had come on as a substitute in the 60th minute to change the course of the match. He was the one who made it 2-0 in the 69th minute and shortly afterwards equalized with a “magic” move. The 24-year-old striker passed whoever he found in front of him and perfectly set up Nyland for 1-1 in the 74th minute.
The Norwegians decided to take the lead – as up to that point they had left the initiative to the Elephants. They took action on the pitch and in the 86th minute they scored the goal that gave them qualification. Berg came out alone from the right and cut the ball into the “heart” of the defense, where Erling Haaland scored the 2-1 for his 5th goal of the competition.
In the 90+6th minute, Niland made an impressive save on Diallo’s free kick from 40 meters (!) to secure qualification for his team.
