Emmanuel Karalis celebrated his first victory of the year in a Diamond League series match, winning the pole vault at the Doha meeting, with a best jump of 5.92 meters.
The Greek champion, a few days after his victory in Ostrava with 5.82m, continued his consistent performances, confirming his excellent competitive condition.
The athlete, who trains under the guidance of Haris Karalis and Marcin Czepanski, started his competition at 5.62m, which he cleared on his first attempt, while leaving 5.72m. He then also cleared 5.82m on his first attempt, while a second attempt was needed for 5.92m.
The bar was then set at 6.02m, a height at which he had two failed attempts, before choosing to move the competition to 6.07m, without however completing the jump.
At the same meeting, Nikos Andrikopoulos took fourth place in the triple jump with a jump of 16.02 m, in his first participation in the Doha event. The Greek jumper scored his performance from his first jump, while he subsequently had four invalid attempts.
