CHANIA: The body was found in an advanced state of decomposition about five kilometers from the house.
Finally, it seems to be entering the thriller of the disappearance of Stavroula Leventaki in Chania , as the 43-year-old North Macedonian national, who was renting the 46-year-old woman’s house, has allegedly confessed to her murder.
According to initial information, the accused allegedly claimed that he had an intense argument with Stavroula, over damage that – as he claimed – had been caused to the house. During the argument, he allegedly hit her with a knife, causing her fatal injury.
After the crime, the 43-year-old allegedly placed the woman’s body in a bag and then transported her in his car to a location approximately five kilometers away from the house, where he buried her in a field.
After a particularly difficult and lengthy process, the police officers of the Chania Crime Investigation and Prosecution Sub-Directorate managed to extract a confession from the 43-year-old, who allegedly described in detail what happened on the morning of May 30th.
“I killed her, we fought over the house, I threw her down and stabbed her,” were allegedly his first words.
Although he insists that the motive for the murder was domestic disputes , this scenario does not seem to convince the authorities.
He himself indicated to the police the spot where he had hidden the body of the unfortunate woman. At this time, strong forces of the Hellenic Police, together with forensic officers, are in the Vatolakkos area of Chania , where the body of the 46-year-old was found. The brother of the unfortunate Stavroula is also rushing to the scene.
The investigation is in full swing, while the official announcement by the Greek Police regarding the details of the case, the findings and the circumstances under which the crime that shocked Chania and the whole of Crete was revealed is awaited.
