HERAKLION: The number of migrants who arrived in Crete in one day now stands at 723, following the new arrival of 40 people at Kali Limenes shortly after 10:00 PM.
A new increase is recorded in the total number of migrants who arrived in Crete in one day , as another incident occurred in Kali Limenes , where a group of 40 people arrived shortly after 10:00 PM.
Based on the latest data, the total number of arrivals now stands at 723 people, although we will soon lose count!
The latest incident concerns 40 people, of whom 35 are adults and 5 are children. Among the passengers are 7 women. The competent services have been informed and the prescribed procedures are being followed for their registration, identification and temporary management.
Earlier, in successive operations south of and near Gavdos, Frontex vessels located and rescued 35 people, 63 people, 32 people, 40 people and 58 people. The first three incidents are being transferred via the port of Chora Sfakia to a storage area in Agia Chania, while the next two are being transferred by Frontex vessel to the port of Souda and from there, in the late hours, also to Agia.
The continuous arrivals keep port and local authorities on heightened alert, as southern Crete and Gavdos are under intense pressure from successive incidents within a few hours.
