Athens: There were 907 laboratory-confirmed new cases of Covid-19 in Greece in the last 24 hours, of which five were detected in people entering the country, the National Organisation for Public Health (NOPH) announced on Sunday. The number of Covid patients in ICUs during the same period was 497 and the number of Covid-related deaths was 30.
This raises the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 401,301 (daily rate of change 0.2 pct), of which 51.2 pct were men. The number of Covid cases linked to travel abroad in the last week was 28, while 2,175 cases in the last week were linked to a previously known case.
Of the patients in ICUs, 60 pct were men and their median age was 67 years old, while 86.5 pct had either an underlying health condition and/or were aged above 70 years old. Since the start of the pandemic, a total of 2,420 patients have been discharged from ICUs.
There were 198 admissions of new Covid-19 patients in hospitals throughout the country in the last 24 hours (daily rate of change -2.46 pct), while the average for admissions in the last seven days was 213 patients were day. The median age of cases needing hospital was 44 years old.
A total of 12,054 people have died of Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic, of which 95.1 pct had either another serious condition and/or were aged above 70 years old.
